- Maintenance of long-term or permanent tracheostomy in sleep apnea; bilateral vocal cord paralysis; or laryngeal (glottic) insufficiency or stenosis due to trauma, carcinoma, radiation therapy, edema and other diseases.
- Short-term tracheostomy when assisted respiration is not required.
- Following removal of a cannula or T-Tube until adequate airway is assured or as an alternative to a T-Tube in appropriate cases.
